Sintered Wire Laminates for High-Performance Filtration

Sintered wire laminates are produced by layering and sintering multiple woven meshes of stainless steel wire in a vacuum furnace. This process results in a sintered stainless steel filter that offers superior strength, durability, and precise pore control. Our sintered stainless steel mesh filters provide enhanced filtration solutions for industries across Saudi Arabia.

  • High mechanical strength and durability
  • Precise filtration with controlled pore sizes
  • Better performance than sintered metal powder filters (lower pressure drop)
  • Pore size cannot reach the fineness of powder sintered filters
  • Available as sintered sheets and sintered filter elements

Sintered filters are ideal for industries requiring reliable filtration under harsh conditions, such as high temperatures, pressures, and corrosive environments. Multilayered sintered mesh filters are used in applications demanding efficiency, durability, and structural integrity, where low pressure drop is an important process parameter.

What are Sintered Multilayered Mesh Filters?

Sintered multi-layered mesh filters are manufactured by pressing multiple layers of stainless steel woven wire cloth and sintering them at extremely high temperatures, over 1000°C, in a vacuum furnace. This sintering process creates a rigid pore structure, ensuring optimal filtration efficiency while maintaining a balance between strength, porosity, and durability. These sheets are commonly used to make cylindrical filters or nutsche filter plates, where strength and resistance to chemical attack are crucial for process uptime as well as product purity.

The sintered stainless steel filter sheets have a typical porosity of 40-50 % and a thickness of 1.7 mm, providing structural integrity to form cylindrical filter cartridges with precise dimensions. The sheets are cut to size and welded, to form the filter elements. Sheets of different porosity, thicknesses, filtration ratings, MOCs, etc can be made as per the client’s requirement.

Five-Layered Sintered Woven Mesh Filter

Our Five Layer sintered Mesh Filters consist of five layers of woven metal mesh pressed and sintered together. The fine filter mesh is sandwiched between two layers of thicker woven meshes and supported by two Dutch woven layers, resulting in a highly durable structure. This sintered metal filter can be tailored to have a filtration rating from 1 to 200 microns (nominal) , making it suitable for various high-demand applications like fluidization, filtration systems, and chemical processes.

Built from high-quality 316L stainless steel or special alloys such as Monel and Hastelloy, these filters perform effectively at temperatures up to 350°C and offer excellent chemical resistance, making them ideal for demanding industrial application

Pore Size and Distribution in Multilayered Sintered Mesh Filter

The performance of a sintered metal mesh filter is heavily influenced by pore size and distribution, both of which are meticulously engineered during the sintering process. The multilayered mesh filter offers precise control over pore sizes, allowing it to trap particles as small as 1 micron. The uniform pore structure ensures consistent filtration efficiency and prevents blockages or flow inconsistencies, making them highly effective for industries in Saudi Arabia that require precision and reliability.

This is in contrast to powder sintered filters, where the path through the filter is a highly tortuous one, increasing pressure drop. The pore size distribution is also wider in a powder sintered filter. However, powder sintered filters can have a rating of 0.2 microns nominal, whereas the filtration rating of multilayered sintered filters usually bottoms out at 1 micron nominal, owing to the weaving difficulties involved.

FAQs

What are the key advantages of using multi-layered sintered mesh filters?

Multilayered sintered mesh filters provide precise filtration, durability, corrosion resistance, and easy maintenance. They perform well in high-pressure, extreme temperatures, and corrosive environments.

How does pore size affect the performance of sintered stainless steel mesh filters?

Pore size affects filtration efficiency. The finer the pore size, the smaller the maximum size of the particles caught in the filter. However, flow rate per unit area also goes down with pore size. Thus, a balance has to be struck between the two.

Are sintered stainless steel mesh filters resistant to corrosion?

Yes, our filters are made from corrosion-resistant materials like 316L stainless steel, which makes them ideal for handling corrosive fluids and gas in industrial processes. However, one must be aware of which fluids are being filtered. For example, liquids containing large concentrations of chloride ions will corrode SS316L quite rapidly.

How are multilayered sintered filters cleaned and maintained?

Our sintered filters are designed for easy cleaning and backwashing, which helps reduce maintenance frequency and replacement costs, ensuring long-term efficiency. The filters can be cleaned by passing fluids in the reverse direction, or giving pulses of compressed air in the reverse direction (outlet to inlet direction).
