What Is a Filter Cartridge?
A filter cartridge is a tubular filtration device used in various industries to remove contaminants, particles, and chemicals from liquids. Encased in filter housings, these cartridges efficiently capture unwanted materials, ensuring the fluid that passes through is clean. With an optimal contamination level of less than 0.01% by weight, a filter cartridge is essential for high-quality filtration.
Known as filtration cartridges, filter media, or filter elements, these devices serve as the core component within the housing. As fluid flows through the inlet nozzle into the cartridge filter, contaminants are trapped on its surface, while clean fluid exits through the outlet nozzle.
Cartridge filters are generally disposable and must be replaced when they become damaged. They provide superior efficiency compared to conventional bag filters, with some systems capable of filtering up to 99.97% of particles as small as 1 micron, and even down to 0.3 microns in advanced models.
