Hastelloy filters feature medium porosity (40-50%) and permeability, allowing high fluid flow while effectively capturing particles. They can be produced with filtration ratings as fine as 0.2 microns (nominal).

Hastelloy Powder Sintered Filters Sintering Process

Hastelloy powder sintered filters are constructed by using a special sintering process to make it more resistant to chemicals & high temperatures. The process begins with selecting the Hastelloy powder to design the filter by using one of two methods: pressing sintering or unconsolidated powder sintering.

In pressing sintering, the powder is first pressed into shape at room temperature. This pre-shaped filter is then heated in a vacuum or gas-filled furnace at high temperatures to create a strong, porous structure without needing any molds or extra pressure.

In unconsolidated powder sintering, the powder is filled into molds to increase density. Later it is sintered in a special furnace with protective gas to prevent oxidation. This method also produces strong, porous filter media with controlled properties.

These filters are available in many different shapes like discs & cylinders. Their pore size, flow rate & strength can be customized by changing the size and shape of the powder particles. This makes them ideal for depth filtration in many applications.
